Rule by Nas ft Amerie

Last class we had presentations on our 9/11 songs. Although all the songs presented were very moving, there was one that stood out to me. "Rule" by Nas featuring Amerie, was my favorite song presented. I love the half rap, half pop it brings, having a remix of "Everybody wants to rule the world" by Tears for Fears in the mix. I love the message that the song brings to stay strong through this, but most importantly brings up the topic of everyone wanting more power in the world. "It's time that we stand together", this lyric stood out to me because I admire the pure humanity that spiraled form this terrible tragedy, a new loving togetherness.
We also observed the video of "The Falling Man", this brought hurt to my heart. I can't imagine what the inside of the building must to have been like in order to make that decision to jump. The point made in class that jumping was, doing it "their way" rather than the terrorist's way really hit me. I never thought about it in that perspective.
This assignment really just reminds me of the pain brought upon the nation by this attack. I gained knowledge on the "The Falling Man" photo, which I had never seen before and the song "Rule" which I had never heard before. It is crazy to think this all happened because I was one when it happened, which makes learning about this event so powerful in school for my generation.

  2. Agreed! The picture was so scary to look at and it really gave you an insight to how that person felt there was no other option. :(

  3. The falling man picture was so powerful but also very difficult to look at. I can't imagine what was going through everybodys mind at that point.
