Music has played such a huge role in my life and at pretty much any point of the day, I am listening to music. When I wake up, take a shower, walk to class, do my homework, or pretty much doing anything else, music is playing. I like a lot of different artists including more generic ones like Taylor Swift and One Direction, but I won't let other people's opinions change my opinion on music.
Whenever I get the chance, I buy concert tickets. It is probably my favorite thing to do and I have been to at least twenty different concerts. The first concert I went to was for Taylor swift, and I have since seen her three times. Each time she has brought out special guests including Carly Simon and Hayley Kiyoko who are both amazing and I would love to see Hayley on her own tour one day. I also have seen One Direction three times, Demi Lovato three times, Harry Styles twice, and Niall Horan, Ariana Grande, Twenty One Pilots, Troye Sivan, Selena Gomez, Meghan Trainor, and Five Seconds of Summer once. I also saw artists open for other artists such as Dua Lipa, Camila Cabello, Ed Sheeran, and Kacey Musgraves. At radio concerts I have seen The Weeknd, Little Mix, Iggy Azalea, Calvin Harris, Hailee Steinfeld, along with others. There are still plenty of other artists that I love and would want to see like Chance the Rapper, Khalid, Stevie Nicks, Lorde, King Princess, Russo and so many others.
Music changes so many lives and whenever I am in a bad mood or just want something to cheer me up, I know I can put on one of my playlists and feel better. I am always looking for new music suggestions or songs to listen to because I add and un-add music from my playlists on Spotify everyday, so leave some suggestions!
This is a blog devoted to the ideas and analysis of BSU students as they discover, listen, read, analyze the works of various musical artists, across various genres, whose music centers on political, social, and/or cultural issues. The ultimate goal of the class, other than focusing on the students' writing skills, is to allow them the space and time to express their own opinions and ideas, to expose them to music that can and has made significant change.
