This is a blog devoted to the ideas and analysis of BSU students as they discover, listen, read, analyze the works of various musical artists, across various genres, whose music centers on political, social, and/or cultural issues. The ultimate goal of the class, other than focusing on the students' writing skills, is to allow them the space and time to express their own opinions and ideas, to expose them to music that can and has made significant change.

The Power of Music
Quite easily my favorite discussion topic of this week, was the effect on music in all of our lives. Hearing all of the relatable responses from others in the room surprised and delighted me. Music has always been the centerpiece of my life. Whether it be my stress reliever, or my painkiller, music has always been what I've turned to. Realizing that I was in a class full of people who held the same beliefs on music that I did, I was very excited, and I look forward to what the rest of the class holds!
