Strength and Unity

September 11th, 2001 was the day that changed this country forever.  Terrorist instilled a fear of false security in this country that is still felt today.  As a baby born in the new millennium, I was not aware of the events at the time.  However, as I grew older, I learned about it from news reports each year on the anniversary.  When we watched live news reports in class on Tuesday, I felt the same as I do every time, I watch something of this manner on the events.  I always feel as if I am watching it live.  These events were so horrendous and awful, I can feel the pain of this country in my chest.  It is scary to think that people woke up on this day, just as they did the previous day.  It was a normal day prior to the attacks.  This makes me wonder what is in store for me every day, because there is a lot of time for change in a day.  A lot of artists used their platform to express their feelings on the event.  Everything that I have heard has been positive, and that we should come together to get thru these events.  Even Talib Kweli had a sense of this in his song “The Proud”, despite his main points being that the African American community is still oppressed.  I definitely can see why artist felt the need to express their personal feelings on the day, because it was such an emotional event.  Everybody in this country felt some sort of way after these attacks, and it is very good that artists decided to express their emotions to let regular citizens know that we were all hurting.  It was a sign of strength and unity from these artists.
