My first time ever hearing born in the USA was on Tuesday during class.  If I was without a lyric sheet, and just lightheartedly listening to the song, I would just think it was a patriotic-type song where artists just praise America.  However, while analyzing the song, I realized that there is a deeper message than just the chorus where Bruce Springsteen is seemingly excited to shout "born in the USA".  Springsteen speaks on his rough childhood, where his escape was to join the military and go to Vietnam.  While he fought for the country, he was sent back home and could not find a job to occupy his time, and to make money.  His lyrics show exactly how much the US really cares about its army vets.  Personally, I've seen many beggars hold signs saying that they were US army vets.  While people will be so quick to judge civil rights hero, Colin Kapernick, and say that he is disrespecting those who fought for our countries, they be the same people to drive past these vets asking for money.    Why can people, including the president, critique people who are trying to make a change, when they will not even try to make changes for their own causes?  Bruce Springsteen pointed out these issues himself.  People who served this country simply are not taken care of when they return from servicing ur country.
