To myself It’s given the impression he is using relation of pain to the cause which is loss. losing somebody or something so important to you causes so much anger and pain. within his lyrics I find find his brilliance because other people have been affected from this attack so using this song to resonate with him on an emotional level is great. People who had parents, siblings or friends that died from an unexpected debauched as well as gruesome attack can use this song as a coping mechanism from the trauma they faced. As most people around the most and all elemery school kids above age 8 knows 9/11 is the unforgettable series of 4 attacks caused by terrorist attacks from the islamic group al qaeda against the united states on the morning of Tuesday September 11th 2001 only two were successful. This same event caused caused so much paranoia and anxiety that america to do a complete 180 degrees on rules and regulations for safety so it would never happen again. In a way they won becuase we changed from a happy go lucky country to strict and angry.
this is also the same war that caused america to go to war in afghanistan something that james also brought up in his lyrics about the body bags and dust. To reiterate so much within america has changed because of the event james made that clear he brought up the casualties, the smoke and dust from the building’s rubble that firefighters and police officers removing dead bodies from beneath the rubble they had to clean for days. He used a method of vivid imagery to see what he saw on the news tv cast and the papers because 9/11 is unforgettable. However, I have a theory that he also tried to understand the terrorist groups plans coming to light as america started to loose that free spirit it was born with by keeping their fingers crossed to see the country fail and crumble however in modern times i also see the body bags and dust as the innocent muslims in afganistan struggling to breathe the dust and carrying the body bags of their people because the actions of a few bad seeds.
