During class listening to all these songs about 9/11 it showed again how much music has on the world. We listened to all different genres of music so all different listeners can come together and mourn with each other. We listened to rapper Nas and Talib Kweli who rapped about the attack for the hip hop fans and people who can relate to them can feel hope after listening to their music. Then we listened to folk rock artist Bruce Springsteen who helped his listeners of his generation see the light in the tragedy. The cranberries hit home to the younger rock fans at the time with there pop rock style. Hearing everyone’s presentation made me realize that music means so much to so many people with all different preferences and gets people through everyday problems no matter how big or small.
This is a blog devoted to the ideas and analysis of BSU students as they discover, listen, read, analyze the works of various musical artists, across various genres, whose music centers on political, social, and/or cultural issues. The ultimate goal of the class, other than focusing on the students' writing skills, is to allow them the space and time to express their own opinions and ideas, to expose them to music that can and has made significant change.

Hey i like how you tied all of the other group's song choices. I also liked how you mentioned that The Cranberries were hitting home with the rock fans. One more thing I liked how you talked about people putting away their differences to stand together. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteMusic really does help people with so many problems! It is so nice that artists are able to use their power to comfort victims!!
