Music Is My Everything !

Where do I even start?

From the time I was a little girl my mother exposed me to music. She would play music from the time I was wide awake and even fast asleep. I have loved music ever since. Which is why I can’t sleep without the sound of music. My taste of music ranges from old school to current popular pop songs. My favorite artists are Evils, Bobby Brown, The Isley Brothers, Tamela Mann, Michael Jackson, Prince, Charlie Wilson, Chris Brown, Mario, etc. I usually don’t have a set agenda of how I listen to my music. I can start with slow music to rap music and from rap music to R&B. Music to me is therapeutic. For most people music brings joy and peace to their souls. Keep in mind a lot of the music back then and now have a way of relation to people from a variety of ages, race, gender, etc. For example, Charlie Wilson made some of best songs that had a well known message in his music. Majority of the newer generations music don’t all have relatable messages but there are a handful of them that relay a good message.
It is a common theme for artists to tell a story or relay a message of some sort in their music. For example, “Baby don’t cry, you gotta keep your head up, even when the road is hard, never give up,” is what Tupac raps in his song “Baby Don’t Cry.” That line alone speaks volumes. I hold these lyrics close to my heart because it’s message is so powerful. When I first heard this song I was probably about six years old and now I’m twenty one years old. Therefore, me hearing this song now really helped me grip onto its message. This message helps with all the troubles that I go through in my life. That song taught me to never give up, even when you face the toughest obstacles in life.
I have anxiety and use music to cope with it. The minute I put headphone on it feels like all my problems and worries are gone. Music always makes me feel relieved and calm. I feel like music is something I can not live without. Music is a big part of my life and has a big impact on my life. Music is something that brings everyone together. For example like concerts that’s where everyone goes and to listen to their favorite artist perform. I’ve never been to a concert before but I hope one day I am able to go to one. It would be nice to connect to an artist physically while at a concert.

  2. I agree with you that through music artists can share a message that they want to get out in to the world, knowing that millions of people will listen to it. I also agree with you that music is a form of therapy whether it be winding down from a long day or relieving stress involved with academics or other things going on in your life.
