Music has been such a powerful influence in my life. Nothing else has been such an outlet for emotion as music has. From such a young age I started getting involved in music. I did my first performance in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dream Coat at five years old. It was the most fun I had ever had. I continued on to do nine more shows before I even started middle school. I had never felt more comfortable with myself than when I had started performing and singing my favorite songs. I was the lead in my seventh grade performance of the Little Princess and I was the tin man in my eighth grade performance of the Wizard of OZ. I loved being on stage and I didn't want to stop. As I got older I switched from doing shows to participating in my high schools show choir. More singing and dancing and less acting on stage. Being in these different group led me to meeting some of my best friends and the people that I would still call my family. These connections that I made through music helped me shape who I am as a person today and who I will continue to be.
Not only has music given me the opportunity to perform, it has also given me the chance to see many great performances and relate to different songs. Going and seeing broadway shows with my friends and family has been something I have been doing for years now. Every April I went with my schools music department to go New York City to go see a different show. Seeing these shows would inspire me that big things can happen if you keep staying involved. I loved feeling that sort of inspiration. Nothing gave e more excitement or more real joy than seeing people performing and loving their job. Going to concerts and seeing my favorite performers up on stage is always so fun and has created so many memories that I'll never forget. I haven't been to many concerts, but the ones that I have gone to see have been with my best friends.
Even just sitting at home and listening to music on my phone causes me to feel so happy or change my mood in a positive way. Putting on my favorite song at the time or putting on a song that has been stuck in my head puts me in a good mood. music has been such an important influence in my life and has caused me to make so many positive decisions that helped impact my life. I'm so glad I was exposed to music at such a young age and was able to grow up around it and Im so happy to be taking this class and learn a whole new side of music that I haven't really seen before.
This is a blog devoted to the ideas and analysis of BSU students as they discover, listen, read, analyze the works of various musical artists, across various genres, whose music centers on political, social, and/or cultural issues. The ultimate goal of the class, other than focusing on the students' writing skills, is to allow them the space and time to express their own opinions and ideas, to expose them to music that can and has made significant change.

I enjoyed your blog. I like how music has such a powerful influence on your life and you take any opportunity to perform in relation to music. When you where in grade school you were always performing and singing that was very cool.
